"The Marriage of Figaro" by Beaumarchais
Directed by Stathis Livathinos
After the success of the Iliad, a performance that received rave reception, both in Greece and abroad, Stathis Livathinos and his team grapple in their new venture, a flagship project of the classical French theater, Beaumarchais’ The Marriage of Figaro in a new translation by Elsa Andrianou.
This is one of the most interesting theatrical texts of the 18th century, an aftereffect of the Enlightenment, and is considered a forerunner of the French Revolution. It is one of the most important political projects of the global repertoire, upon which the famous eponymous opera by Mozart was based. At the same time it is a frenetic comedy of rare theatrical virtues, which will be the basis for an ensemble performance based on improvisation, music and dance.
